"If Anyone Keeps My Word..." | John 8: Jesus, Death, and the Living Word

April 6, 2025

Rev. Karl Grant

In this sermon on John 8:46–59, we see Christ confront the crowds in the temple with divine clarity: to reject His Word is to reject God; to receive it is to have life that death cannot touch. The I AM speaks... will we hear?

Takeaways

  • Jesus doesn't offer spiritual platitudes. He makes exclusive, divine claims that demand a response. There is no true knowledge of God apart from receiving His Word.

  • Keeping Christ's Word is not about moral performance but about faith (treasuring the Word of God that forgives, sustains, and leads to everlasting life).

  • Christ's word exposes our sin, but never to leave us in shame. It crushes our idols so we might be raised with Him, never to taste death.
