From Little to Much: Trusting Jesus with Our Gifts (Mark 8 Sermon)
August 3, 2025
Rev. Karl Grant
In the wilderness of impossible needs, Jesus invites us to offer our little and trust Him to multiply it abundantly through His miraculous grace. Mark 8:1–9 shows how Christ's compassion turns our scarcity into overflowing provision, assuring us that in giving to His kingdom, we suffer no loss but gain eternal abundance.
Takeaways:
Recognize life's impossible needs as opportunities for Christ to display His compassion, moving us from anxiety to faith in His provision alone.
Respond to Jesus' invitation by offering what little we have knowing it's not our strength but His grace that sustains the church and our daily lives.
Witness in amazement as the Holy Spirit multiplies our gifts, turning scarcity into abundance, just as Jesus fed the 4,000 and promises us full life in Him.
Trust that following Christ means no net loss; He repays generously now and eternally, freeing us from fear through the Gospel's assurance of redemption.
Live as stewards in joyful generosity, grounded in the sacraments and Word, where Christ's real presence nourishes us for service in His kingdom.
Find peace in God's daily provision, as the Catechism reminds us, echoing the Lord's Prayer and pointing to the heavenly feast where all wants cease.
