Tongues of Fire Today: Ordinary Voices, Extraordinary Gospel Impact

June 8, 2025

Rev. Karl Grant

Ever felt your heart pound when talk turns to Jesus? This Pentecost sermon shows how the Holy Spirit empowers believers, from farmers to teachers to parents, to speak with confidence about Christ. Walking through Acts 2, we deal with the problem of self-doubt, the solution of Spirit-given speech, and the handle: speak in your own “language” and trust that Christ gathers the harvest. Along the way you’ll hear the anchor promise, “The Spirit uses all of us,” and discover how pastors preach, believers scatter the seed, and Christ gathers the harvest.

Takeaways:

  • The Holy Spirit empowers all believers to witness.

  • Our self-doubt is replaced by Holy Spirit confidence.

  • The splitting of languages at Babel is reversed, but not how you'd think.

  • You can and should share Christ naturally through your vocation.

  • The Spirit uses all of us!
