About Buffalo Lake, Minnesota

Buffalo Lake is a town of about 650 in Renville County, on Highway 212. It was platted in 1881 and named for a small lake north of town. In June 2003 a tornado took out much of Main Street, including the grocery store and the post office, and the town rebuilt; a memorial built from the old grocery store's bricks is in Memorial Park. Buffalo Lake Days in late July brings the parade and the firemen's waterball tournament. The BLHS elementary school is here. St. Peter's is thirteen miles south.
