St. Peter's is the nearest LCMS congregation to Hector. Going west on Highway 212 there are none in Bird Island, Olivia, Danube, Renville or Sacred Heart.

Worship: The historic Divine Service. Hymns from the Lutheran Service Book, Scripture readings, a sermon on the lectionary text for that Sunday, and the Lord's Supper. Every generation in the room together, children included.


Education: Sunday School for children and adult Bible study during the school year. Confirmation instruction for youth.


Fellowship: Coffee after the service, in a congregation where people know each other.

About Hector, Minnesota

Hector is a town of about 1,000 in Renville County, on Highway 212 northwest of Gibbon. It started as a railroad town in 1878 and took its name from Hector, New York, where many of its first settlers came from. Corn Chaff Days fills the city park every July. The middle and high school for the Buffalo Lake, Hector, and Stewart (BLHS) school district is here. Hector has churches but no LCMS congregation. St. Peter's is twenty minutes south.
